FOUR soldiers are under investigation after they were barred from Windsor's King and Castle pub this week over suspected drug taking.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said:  "We can confirm that four customers were asked to leave The King and Castle pub in Windsor on suspicion of taking drugs in the pub toilet cubicles.

"The men have been barred from the pub.

"Wetherspoon has a zero tolerance policy on the use of drugs in its pubs and we back the decision taken by the pub's duty manager.

"We can't confirm whether they were soldiers from the nearby barracks."

Reports that the four came from the Household Cavalry based at Windsor's Combermere Barracks have not been confirmed. However a national newspaper is reporting that this is the case and the soldiers are local to the town.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence said: “We can confirm a number of soldiers were involved in an incident in Windsor on Tuesday evening. The matter is currently being investigated and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.

“All those who are found to fall short of the Army’s high standards or who are found to have committed an offence under the Armed Forces Act are dealt with administratively (up to and including dismissal) or through the disciplinary process, as applicable.”
