Businesses across Windsor are being encouraged to help more in the fight against litter.

Clewer South councillor Ed Wilson has been behind many 'litter picks' in his ward.

He said: "In Dedworth we have many business owners who go the extra mile to keep their premises clear of litter. We now recognise them through our Good Business Neighbour Award which rightly praises business that clean the front of their premises and we will be running the competition again this year."

He believes the council should make greater use of its powers to get businesses across Windsor to follow the Dedworth example and clean the front of their premises. He said: "We don’t need to behave in a draconian way, but we do need to act where the issue is obvious and persistent."

He has also called on the Royal Borough to improve the provision of litter bins - by providing expensive solar powered ones that compact the rubbish and reveal when they need emptying.
