Colnbrook's Lakeside Energy from waste facility welcomed local schoolchildren onto its premises to see how it all worked.
The children were guests of Grundon Waste Management, which runs the Lakeside plant as a joint venture with Viridor.
The visit was designed to encourage Year 8/9 students to consider a range of career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The students toured the premises, then had to use dry spaghetti and jelly babies to construct the tallest tower they could. The winning tower, with a height of around 35 cm, was built by the five students from Windsor's Trevelyan Middle School.
