Grants worth over £21,000 from the Royal Borough are still available for local community groups and organisations to apply for. But they will have to hurry.

The deadline for applying is next Wednesday, August 16 and grants will be decided at a meeting in September. Groups of all age ranges had the chance to apply for funding earlier this year and nearly 40 charities and organisations won grants to spend on their projects and initiatives for residents.

A record £269,000 was shared among the 40 groups for 2017/18. This was the largest amount to date that the Royal Borough has awarded to local organisations over a 12 month period.

Cllr Michael John Saunders, lead member for finance and chairman of the grants panel, said: “This money enriches the lives of residents and families and I urge groups that haven’t been in touch with us before to consider applying.

“The grant application process is very simple and easy to complete and council officers would be happy to speak to groups if they need further assistance.” To be eligible for a grant, groups must meet the following Royal Borough strategic objectives of putting residents first and providing value for money.
