AN UNSUSPECTING tortoise was pulled out of harms way by two patrolling officers last week.
PC Michael Thomas and PC Nicole Twomey spotted the animal heading onto the road during one of their patrols in Windsor.
They stepped in to rescue the animal and it was reunited with its family a few hours later after a quick stop at a local veterinary hospital.
Thames Valley Police made the announcement on their Twitter page to celebrate National Pet Day.
