Windsor MP Adam Afriyie has recalled how he heard 'six gunshots' near to the Houses of Parliament as terror struck Westminster yesterday afternoon.

Three people have died and at least 40 have been injured after an attacker drove a car along a pavement in Westminster, stabbed a policeman and was shot dead by police in the grounds of Parliament.

Seven people are critically injured.

MPs were locked in the House of Commons for more than four hours and business suspended following the incident which began to unfold at 2.40pm.

Thames Valley Police chief Francis Habgood has reassured residents the force is 'reviewing security in light of the incident'.
