A FAILURE to deliver consultation forms to residents has forced the council to extend the deadline for suggestions on how to spend taxpayers' money.

Some residents in north Maidenhead did not receive the Local Budget consultation document which asks for ideas on how to improve the community.

It is the third year the Royal Borough has run the 'You Tell Us' scheme and makes £225,000 available for borough projects.

Councillor Christine Bateson, cabinet member for planning and partnerships, said: "We have met with the contractor who has apologised and given a firm commitment to ensuring the missed streets will be covered as a matter of urgency.

"Although residents can also vote online, the hand- delivered leaflet is a key part of the consultation and we apologise to residents for the inconvenience."

Projects that benefit the whole borough will benefit from £100,000, while a total of £125,000 will be divided among local schemes.

The deadline to respond has been extended from Tuesday, July 31, to Monday, August 20, and can be completed online by visiting www.surveymonkey.com/s/3JG2TF7
