A COMMUNITY centre suffering from the recession is fighting back with a wide range of activities.
Clewer Youth and Community Centre, in Parsonage Lane, is not run by the Royal Borough and has seen its funding reduced by the Government.
Rinah Walsh, the centre manager, has kept it going by providing activities for people young and old.
On Fridays a ladies martial arts fitness class is held from 9.15-10.15am and an art class for children is from 10-11am. Mrs Walsh said: "This is what the centre is all about - different sessions for different people. We want the hall to be used as much as possible."
The centre benefits from charitable funding from Radian Housing Association and the Co-operative, but relies on people booking the hall for events and holding sessions.
For information on activities, classes and how to hire the hall contact Mrs Walsh on 07900 913278.
