CHILDREN'S theme park Legoland has been forced to close due to an electrical power failure.

The closure was posted on the theme park in Winkfield Road's Facebook page at 10am to the disappointment of hundreds of families planning a visit.

A statement on the social messaging site this morning said: "For those with pre-booked tickets then Chessington World of Adventures will happily accept them today for you."

At 2.30pm a statement confirmed the theme park will remain closed today.

The statement on Facebook says: "We have just been informed that the park will have to remain closed for the rest of the day, but we will be open again tomorrow, as per normal. Apologises to everybody for all the inconvenience caused; we did everything we could to fix the problem, but the issue was out of our control. If you have purchased tickets for today, they can be swapped for another date. Please contact customer.services@legoland.co.uk for more details."
