Observer backs business show
THE Observer and its Berkshire Media Group (BMG) sister publications are teaming up with Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to boost business growth in the region.
Collaborating for Growth - Business Show 2012 is expected to attract more than 600 visitors with an abundance of high-level speakers, exhibitions, seminars, networking opportunities and workshops.
The collaboration between the county's largest independent newspaper publisher and the LEP - the private, public and voluntary sector consortium charged with driving economic growth in Berkshire - is on Wednesday, April 18, from 8am-6pm, at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre at Reading's Madejski Stadium.
LEP chairman, Steve Lamb, a senior director at Oracle who will be presenting at the show, said: "The power behind TVB LEP is the collaborative momentum we can create together to drive our economy. The Business Show is all about how we can collaborate for growth and how businesses can get involved."
Speakers include serial entrepreneur Kevin Gaskell, who has led iconic brands Porsche, Lamborghini and BMW, and dotcom millionaire, Marcelle Speller, who founded Localgiving.com and Holiday-Rentals.com.
Other speakers include Eamonn Dolan, manager of Reading Football Club's Academy, Matt Rogan, commercial director for personal development company Lane4, Henry Hirsch, Reading Rowing Club coach, and Berkshire entrepreneur Jim McNeil, who founded the Ice Warrior Project.
The event is co-sponsored by SEGRO, Bracknell Regeneration and Reading UK CIC, and supported by Institute of Directors for Berkshire, Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and Federation of Small Businesses.
BMG managing director Amanda Gee said: "If you are serious about doing business and you are keen to help encourage growth in the Thames Valley area then this is an event no organisation can afford to miss."
