YOUNGSTERS at Dedworth Middle School learned watt it's all about when a pedal power workshop was brought to a lesson on Wednesday.

The Tree of Light project, funded by the Olympic Legacy Trust, aims to inspire creativity and the group of Year Sevens learned how electricity could be created by pedalling on a bike.

Karen North, assistant headteacher, said: "The children were absolutely flabbergasted at the amount of energy they needed to not only turn the lights on but keep them on.

"Since the workshop they have been turning all the lights off and asking me if it's really necessary that we have them on.

"It has certainly brought the issue to life for them and it has complemented their curriculum."
