THE ROYAL Borough's 2012/13 budget was unanimously approved by the cabinet last night.
The budget will see a 1.5% reduction in council tax, the third reduction in three years but includes a £400k cut in funding for Children's Services.
Also featured in the budget, to go before full council on February 28, is £1.1m for highway surfacing, £900k for expansion works at Windsor First and Middle schools and £450k for a new rugby training pitch at Braywick Park.
Councillor Richard Kellaway, cabinet member for finance, said: "While we have been able to cut the council tax we do believe we have been doing it in a prudent manor.
"We do fundamentally believe we should only tax to the extent that is necessary to provide the services. These services are continued and wherever possible improved."
Cabinet also approved the recommendation that the former Holyport Manor School site, in Ascot Road, be marketed to invite bids for educational or school use.
