AN unlicensed door supervisor was found working illegally after a Security Industry Authority (SIA) pub check operation.
A 24-year-old man from Maidenhead was cautioned by police following the investigation on Friday Januuary 27.
SIA investigators also issued warnings to two door supervisors, one from Maidenhead and one from Windsor.
The inspections were led by Thames Valley Police, the SIA and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead after police intelligence that venues in both areas may be using unlicensed workers.
SIA head of investigation, Darren Woodhouse, said: "A previous partner-led operation in the Windsor area found several people breaking licence conditions, so it is important for us to carry out checks like these to remind individuals of their responsibilities.
"Door supervisors must hold a valid SIA licence and abide by licence conditions otherwise they risk having their SIA licence revoked or being prosecuted." The two men slapped with warnings had breached licence conditions by failing to notify the SIA of a change of address.
Debie Pearmain, licensing officer for Thames Valley Police, said: "The operation was well received with full cooperation from the designated premises supervisors. Licensing checks were also conducted at the same time to ensure that conditions were being adhered to."
In total, 10 venues were visited and 20 door supervisors inspected. Seventeen door staff were properly licensed.
Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member with responsibility for licensing, added: "This is another example of how valuable licensing enforcement work can be.
"Doormen play a crucial role in the night-time economy and can make a difference to how safe customers are when using the bars and clubs around the area.
"It is vital that doormen are checked regularly to ensure that they are licensed and are properly qualified to do the job."
