HIGH-FLYING students in the Royal Borough were also celebrating another year of top results.
The number of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades, including English and maths, was 63.3% - 4.4% above the national average.
Cllr Eileen Quick, lead member for education, said: "Looking at the higher achievers, 63.3% of our pupils achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths, which is very pleasing and places the borough in the 20s out of 152 local authorities. It is great for them because they are the subjects an awful lot of employers look for."
The Royal Borough's overall results remained in line with last year, which showed 63.6% of pupils achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.
However, some schools saw results fall including Desborough School in Maidenhead, which went from 61% to 53% and Churchmead Church of England (VA) School in Datchet dropped from 54% to 40%.
Gaynor Goodman, headteacher at Churchmead said: "The figure was actually 41% and we are in dispute with the Department for Education because they included a child who had left. Each cohort has different abilities and we also took four extra students who joined us from various parts of the world, who couldn't complete all the work. We are working hard to push up to the national average and continue to work with the young people we have and push them to achieve their best."
