Pipe leak causes emergency works before big freeze

A BURST water pipe in Dedworth Road has sent tens of workers rushing to the scene to stop the flow.

Water continue to gush onto the junction of Dedworth Road and Oakley Green Road with workers keen to remove surface water with a big freeze expected tonight.

At 3.30pm firefighters from Windsor were called to a property in Dedworth Road, only to arrive at the scene to find the ground floor already drenched.

Firefighters quickly located the leak, coming from a water tank in the loft, and cut off the water supply before helping the family to clear out the furniture.

Crew manager Che Scott said: "We have tried to salvage as much as we can and remove a lot of the stuff which has already be ruined.

"After sealing off the leak we were on hand to help the family."

The Windsor crew remained on the scene for two hours.
