SEVEN houses in Cookham went without power last night after an electrical blaze.

Firefighters from Maidenhead were called to a property in Whyteladyes Lane at around 9pm to deal with a cable shortage.

When they arrived the householder had already extinguished the fire but White Watch stayed on the scene for another hour.

Watch manager Nigel Flatt said: "It was more a watch and wait when we arrived but it had the potential to be quite significant."
