Have your say on waterside plans
PLANS to create a café culture in a neglected waterside in Maidenhead have been released.
The reported £100m plans, by the Shanly Group, for the redevelopment of land around York Stream and Chapel Arches, on the corner of Bridge Avenue and High Street, will go alongside proposals made by Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group (MWRG), to open up York Stream for small boats.
Public consultation on the possible three-stage project will be on Thursday, February 2, from noon-8pm, at the foyer of Maidenhead Library, in St Ives Road, with leaflets detailing the plans due to be delivered to Maidenhead residents early next week.
The redevelopment of the land would include bars, restaurants, offices and apartments. The Shanly Group owns most of the land around the area earmarked for development and will attend the consultation to present the plans.
Representatives of Architect firm Sidell Gibson, who designed the scheme, will also attend.
The Shanly Group hope to move the project forward by working with groups, existing tenants and engineers from MWRG.
Due to the project overlapping, MWRG's redevelopment plans will not be viewed by councillors until March.
