Royal scouting for volunteers

ADULTS are being encouraged to follow the Duchess of Cambridge's lead and volunteer at their local scout group as the Scouting Association in the Royal Borough looks to expand.
Beaver, cubs and scout groups in Windsor and Eton are over-subscribed and the district is in desperate need of extra volunteers to meet the demand.
The Duchess is to become a regular helper with a cub pack in London, and another in north Wales, and David Smith, district commissioner for Windsor and Eton, is appealing for more volunteers in the Royal Borough as he plans to open a new Beaver colony in central Windsor next month.
Mr Smith said he has a headache trying to find places for all the children wanting to sign up in the area and added: "The Dedworth area is particularly in demand for leaders and if volunteers can be encouraged to come along and help like the Duchess of Cambridge it will allow so many more young people to enjoy the adventure of scouting.
"The bottom line is that she wants to help on a regular basis and we are delighted. If someone who is high-profile and has a busy schedule is prepared to join in, that may encourage others to come forward to help too."
Chief Scout Bear Grylls said: "The Duchess has an incredibly busy life, which makes it all the more inspiring that she has chosen to volunteer alongside us."
