A FIRE crew from Maidenhead tackled a car blaze late last night.

The vehicle in Sawyers Crescent is thought to have caught fire after an electrical fault in the engine and firefighters were called to the scene at around 11pm.

The crew tackled the blaze for around half an hour and watch manager Matthew Weldon said: "The fire was mainly restricted to the engine compartment and it hadn't quite spread to the rest of the car.

"The dashboard was starting to melt though. The owner had only finished driving around half hour before and there were no signs of arson so it appears to be an electrical failure."
