Four tackle charity cycling challenge
AN ADVENTURE playground for people with learning disabilities in Maidenhead is set to receive a timely boost from pedal power.
Four men from Oxford, Jason Dudley, Karl Jones, Damian Robertson and Ryan Drackett, will embark on a 1,000 mile cycle from the Cape Wrath, in Scotland - the UK's most north westerly point - to Dover in a journey which should take 12 days.
The foursome aim to raise £4,000 for the Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP) which offers people of all ages with learning and physical disabilities the chance to enjoy outdoor play facilities.
Nick Hutchinson, donations manager at TVAP, said: "Last year over 13,600 visits were made to the Adventure Playground, with visitors travelling from across the Thames Valley and beyond. We cannot tell you what a difference the help of Jason, Karl, Damian and Ryan will make to all our users for whom the Playground is such a lifeline."
Jason Dudley, 22, works with children with disabilities and was made aware of the TVAP through his partner, Sarah Maudsley, who is from Windsor.
Mr Dudley said: "I was alarmed by how little funding they receive from the authorities and they do a lot of good work so it made sense to ride
for them.
"There hasn't been too much training yet but I am definitely mentally prepared to take the challenge on."
