Tributes to 80-year-old Spanish woman
NEIGHBOURS have paid tribute to an 80-year-old woman found dead in the Jubilee River five days before Christmas.
Emelia Kaczmarek, of Marsh Lane in Dorney Reach, was reported missing at 9.44am on Tuesday, December 20, and at 11am police received a report that clothes had been found on the riverbank.
At 2.34pm, Mrs Kaczmarek's body was recovered from the river.
Ron Brown, 67, lives in a cottage five doors down from where Mrs Kaczmarek lived with her husband, and said: "It is very sad. I did not know her very well but I would often see her walking . She did a lot of walking, and used to go as far as Sainsburys for her food. I admired her for that. She seemed very well for her age.
"Whenever we did speak, she was very friendly and welcoming."
A woman in her 60s, who asked not to be named, said Mrs Kaczmarek was one of two Spanish sisters who married two Polish brothers and the two couples lived in Marsh Lane for more than 40 years.
An inquest into Mrs Kaczmarek's death was opened on Tuesday, January 3.
