CLEVER students in the Royal Borough have notched up another year of excellent exam results.

The number of A-level students achieving A* to C grades was up 1.5% this year from 69.4% to 70.9%.

Pupils scoring A* to E grades also went up from 97.5% to 97.7% this year.

GCSE students who picked up their results on Tuesday also scored higher than last year with the number of students gaining five or more A* to C grades including English and Maths rising from 60% last year to 64% this year.

The number of students achieving five or more A* to C grades in any subject also went from 77% in 2009 to 81% this year.

Cllr Eileen Quick, lead member for children’s services, said: “This is extremely encouraging news.

“I would like to congratulate all the pupils who have put in so much hard work and the teachers, staff and parents who have so diligently taught and supported them in their efforts.

“I am very proud of all our schools - of their continually improving results and of all the students who so richly deserve their successes. Well done everyone.”
