SINGER Chesney Hawkes and television presenter Andi Peters are just some of the names backing a Slough man’s unique bid to raise cash for a Windsor charity.

Former Observer reporter Andy van Terheyden is battling against his brother in the style of Nintendo’s video game Super Mario Brothers in aid of Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service.

The stars and other supporters have signed up to the 'Super VT Bros: Battle of the Brothers’ official website to 'back a bro’ for the fundraiser which will see

Andy, 28, and younger brother Rob, 26, don the red and green of Italian plumbers Mario and Luigi to become 'Robio’ and 'Andigi’ for three challenges.

Andy, a teacher at Penn Wood Primary and Nursery School, said: “The support in our first week has been incredible. So many people have backed me after Chesney Hawkes led the way. I’ve met him a couple of times at his own charity fundraisers in Ascot.”

All those who back the eventual winning brother will go into a draw for a 'Windsor Weekend’ prize package including a stay at the Harte & Garter Hotel, a day at Legoland, a three-course meal at Cornucopia Bistro as well as a Woods of Windsor pamper hamper.

Andy, of Upton Park, said: “These businesses have been really kind to donate towards what I think is an excellent prize package.

“We’re really grateful and if any other Windsor firms want to follow suit we’d love to hear from them!”

The best-of-three contest will begin with a 'Mundane Mastermind’ quiz, followed by a rap battle and concluded in October with the pair going head to head at stand-up comedy.

The fundraiser has already raised £200. To make a donation visit www.justgiving.com/supervtbros or to back a bro see www.supervtbros.co.uk
