MILLIONS of pounds will be pumped into Royal Borough schools to create extra places to meet increasing demand.
The Royal Borough is proposing to expand five primary and first schools in Windsor, Datchet, Wraysbury and Maidenhead to provide an extra 390 places.
Education bosses at the council say the number of children applying for reception places in the borough has risen in recent years with the number of applications for places in Windsor for September 2010 exceeding the 495 spaces available.
The borough currently has more than £4m in its Primary Capital Programme for the scheme and around £700,000 of Section 106 money - funds developers can be ordered to contribute in order to receive planning permission.
However education planning officer, Ben Wright, said that would not be enough to fund the whole project and it was too early to estimate how much more they would have to find.
