A POLICE officer from Datchet is to stand trial accused with raping a woman he met on-line.

Trainee Detective Constable for the Metropolitan Police, Shahzad Malik of London Road has denied rape and two counts of sexual assault.

The 30-year-old, who was based at Hounslow Police Station, has been released on bail and will face trial at the Old Bailey on December 13.

On Sunday, January 10, a 27-year-old woman reported to police that she had been sexually assaulted two days earlier by a police officer at Police Section House in Brentford, having met him on a website.

The case was referred to the Independent

Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) and a decision was taken that the IPCC would manage the Met's investigation.

A Met spokesman said the officer is suspended pending the outcome of the trial.
