A CONMAN posing as a worker from a water company robbed an elderly man at his home in Dedworth.

The man turned up at the pensioners home at 9.30am on Friday and said he needed to check the values.

He entered the kitchen and turned on the tap under the sink and asked the elderly man in his eighties to watch the kitchen taps while he checked the rest of the property.

After a few minutes the resident became suspicious and when he confronted the conman he pushed him from behind causing him to fall across the kitchen work surface.

The intruder then stole a wallet containing cash from the elderly man.

The robber is white with a fair complexion, around 5ft 8ins, aged 30 to 32, and of medium build. He was clean shaven with cropped, light brown hair and a local accent.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Det Sgt Dejan Avramovic on 0845 8 505 505 or to remain anonymous the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
