Teenagers charged with murder and arson

TWO people appeared in court charged with murder and arson over the death of a 23-year-old in a house fire last week.

Amaar Najib, 19, and a 17-year-old girl who cannot be named for legal reasons spoke only to confirm their names and ages at Slough Magistrates Court today (Jul 2) as they faced one count of murder and one of arson each.

Dressed in a a black and white flowery top the girl continually looked back over her shoulder for reassurance from her family, while Najib, whose left cheek was burned looked straight ahead.

Both were committed to trial at Reading Crown Court on Friday, July 16. A bail hearing for the girl will be heard on Monday.

The charges relate to a fatal house fire in Moor Lane, Maidenhead on Firday, June 25 where Saimah Ali, 23, died due to smoke inhalation.
