Murderer given three life sentences

THE murderer of a tourist from Maidenhead will spend at least 90 years in jail.

Tom Reeve from Priors Way, Maidenhead was shot on November, 5 last year when Ray Carlos Cisneros stormed into a bar in Amarillo, Texas, where Mr Reeve was on holiday, and attempted to rob it.

On Monday Cisneros, 26, pleaded guilty to the murder and two counts of aggravated robbery and was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences and will not be eligible for release until he is 116.

Mr Reeve was travelling across America with a group of friends and decided to visit Amarillo because he loved the classic song Is This The Way To Amarillo. The father-of-one had stopped at the Spotted Pony Bar when Cisneros who had been high on drugs for three days burst in and tried to rob the bar to pay for a new car for his girlfriend.

Investigating Officer Lieutenant Gary Trupe of the Amarillo Police Department told the Observer in November that Cisneros came in and immediately started firing and ordered everyone in the bar onto the floor. Mr Reeve did exactly as he was told, but a bullet ricocheted off a table and hit him in the chest.

Initially prosecutors were considering seeking the death penalty but decided there was not enough evidence and so settled on three 30 year terms.

Mr Reeve leaves daughter Tabitha who is now 14 months.
