MORE than 30 new showing classes have been added to the Royal Windsor Horse Show line-up making it one of the biggest showing events in the country.

The programme for the 2010 show has been confirmed and includes 32 extra classes with categories from Sport Horses to Veterans to Miniature Horses and Side-Saddle.

The show now boasts more than 150 classes, with 117 in showing and an additional 20 showing championships, enhancing its prestigious reputation as an event for competitors and horse lovers.

Event director, Simon Brooks-Ward said: "We are responding to the growing popularity of showing by providing classes that have become increasingly popular. We have listened to experts and re-engaged the Orsicch Committee to advise us. I am pleased to announce that it will include Nigel Hollings and Carol Gilbert-Scott. They will keep us abreast of the latest showing trends to ensure we are at the forefront of the showing world."

The popular event held in the private grounds of Windsor Castle will run from Wednesday, May 12 to Sunday, May 16.

Each day the main arena will host a mix of jumping competitions, showing championship classes, displays and a range of equestrian competitions.

Highlights will include the Land Rover International Driving Grand Prix, the DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games, The Shetland Pony Grand National and The Musical Drive of The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery.

Following last year's successful pilot, entrants will be able to enter classes online, as well as book stabling and organise passes.
