MAJOR works to improve a busy shopping street in Windsor are due to begin on Monday.

Contractors are set to roll in to Peascod Street to begin the first phase of the works near Marks and Spencer.

The works were due to start last month, but due to the extreme weather conditions had to be delayed.

The first two phases, which includes the areas outside Marks and Spencer and Boots, should be complete before Easter, when contractors will leave the site and then return to carry out further work after Easter.

Each phase is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.
