A SAVVY young netball player has used her creative talents off the court
to help raise cash for her hard up team.
Anna Palmer who turned 13, last week plays for the Royal Borough of
Windsor and Maidenhead Netball Partnership Club and during her holidays
from school she designed a netball logbook.
The youngster who attends Dolphin School in White Waltham said the idea
came from a conversation with her coach, who said they may not have
enough funds for scorepads this season.
"I had a laptop for my birthday, so I volunteered to mock up a design. I
worked out what players would like to write about - such as tournament
success, extra practice and top tips from coaching; then I thought what
the coaches wanted, communication between us on them on our development
and reminders of what to do better during skill sessions," she added.
Level two netball coach Anna Emma Pilchowski said: "It is always
fantastic to receive ideas from players - netball is a team game and
everyone's feedback including coaches play a part in success.
"Players need to be thinkers as well. We now have this great logbook -
it's a coaching tool, a development log and a player's record.
All of the proceeds from sales will help us fund our teams to enter
local matches and pay for new kit.
While Poppy Feldwick a year-three pupil at the Windsor club added: "I am
only just learning to play netball and I can't wait to write in my book
after my lessons.
"I also love writing in it when we have matches at school and when I can
do extra shooting practice at home."
The Netball Players Development logbook can be purchased at Amazon and
locally through the club priced £3.50.
