SPORTS clubs in the Royal Borough are invited to show what they have to offer during fortnight of sporting fun.

The borough is inviting clubs to promote their sporting opportunities and activities in the ever-popular Sports Bug Fortnight running from Saturday, May 15, to Friday, May 28, at leisure centres, sports clubs and community centres.

Participating clubs and sports groups can advertise and promote their activities and sessions in the free Sports Bug brochure compiled by the Sports Development team.

The aim is to demonstrate to adults and children alike the huge variety of sports on offer in the borough and to encourage them to sign up for free taster sessions during Sports Bug Fortnight.

Cllr Simon Dudley, lead member for adult and community services, said: "It is not only a wonderful opportunity for clubs to showcase the variety of sporting activities on offer across the borough but a chance for children and adults alike to kick-start an interest in sport - whether trying a sport for the first time or coming back to a different sport after a break."

As well as promoting their sessions, sports clubs are also being offered the opportunity for some one-to-one support from the sports development team in securing funding opportunities, gaining accreditation and recruiting volunteers.

Free taster sessions in sports ranging from go-karting and water activities to touch rugby and women's fitness will be available during Sports Bug Fortnight.

To register to take part or to find out more contact Helen Preedy, sports development officer, by Friday, February 19, on 01753 778565 or email Helen.preedy@rbwm.gov.uk
