A CAR dealership has defended its actions after telling a woman damage to her car seat was 'possibly due to her physical size and weight'.

Kayleigh Argyle, of Foster Avenue, Windsor, said she was in tears after receiving the humiliating response in an e-mail from the managing director at Charters of Uxbridge Peugeot.

The 24-year-old, who is 6ft 1in and a size 18, said: "I was really upset. I thought even if I was 50 stones they didn't have the right to e-mail me that. It made me feel really horrible that someone could say that."

Miss Argyle claims she has had numerous problems with her Peugeot 307 CC since purchasing it in 2008 for more than £15,000.

She took the car to the garage earlier this month after the driver's car seat collapsed as she drove along the motorway nearly causing a crash. After complaining about the service she received the e-mail and said she was very upset.

"I cried my eyes out because I have had trouble with my weight since I was a child. I have a medical condition it's not as if I eat Mcdonalds all day. I just couldn't believe he said that," she said.

Managing director David Manchester defended his response saying he dealt with the situation the best way he could considering the circumstances.

He said: "I don't think it was inappropriate it was appropriate for the problem. She has been very abusive and rude to my staff. In this situation I thought the blunt approach was best. I didn't say that was definitely the cause I said possible. When I spoke to her partner I did say I apologise if I upset Kayleigh."

Miss Argyle said she is unhappy with the service and will be reporting the incident to Peugeot head office.
