THE aunt of a 23-year-old student who died on Christmas Eve after a car crash in Windsor Great Park has spoken of her loss.

Sri Lankan born Beyon Perera had been living with his aunt Sharmi Wieck in Sunningdale for more than two years while he studied at university,

Ms Wieck, who owns Sharmi Joseph beauty salon, in Goswell Hill, Windsor, said her nephew was more like a son to her.

She said: "I practically brought him up as my baby even though I was his aunt. I was with him more than my own daughters who are married.

"He was such a fun loving boy but also very clever. He loved living in England."

Ms Wieck said Beyon was a grade A student who was due to graduate in marketing and accountancy at Thames Valley University, in Ealing, in May 2010.

He worked part-time in the Budgens store, in Ascot, where, she said he was "really, really loved."

Beyon also waited tables at The Belvedere Arms, in Sunninghill.

Ms Wieck said one of her last memories of Beyon was playing in the snow with his brother Dilan the morning of the fatal crash last Wednesday (December 23).

She said: "The best thing I remember was that they were throwing snowballs at each other that morning and he came in an put a big lump of ice down my neck."

Beyon's red Hyundai collided with a VW Passat at 5.40pm on Sheet Street Road and he was taken to Wexham Park Hospital with serious injuries.

Ms Wieck said he never regained consciousness and despite seven hours of surgery he died the following morning.

She said: "I must thank the surgeons, nurses and staff at Wexham Park Hospital one hundred times for all they did."

A memorial service is being held for Beyon at the Sacred Heart Church, on the A30, in Sunningdale at 2pm on Thursday December 31.

Ms Wieck will then be travelling with Beyon's body to Sri Lanka on Friday where she will join his parents and family for a traditional funeral.
