AN evening out ended in disaster for two women after one was knocked over and the other trapped in a car.
The pair had been enjoying a meal at The Binoy restaurant in Dedworth Road on Tuesday night before the accident at around 9.30pm.
Manager of the restaurant Firoz Kamaly spoke of his shock at seeing the Vauxhall Astra car knocking over the woman in a wheelchair before crashing into the front of the neighbouring Boots chemist.
Mr Kamaly said: "The woman in the wheelchair who is a regular at the restaurant couldn't get her car out of the parking space so her friend tried. But I don't think she knew how to drive an automatic and lost control. She reversed and then just shot forward into the lady. We were all in complete shock. The driver was trapped in the car and a man who was passing jumped in to the car and helped to free her.
"The other lady was on the floor and was just crying. We covered her with a blanket and waited for the ambulance. I still can't believe what has happened."
The fire service attended to make the scene safe. Windsor blue watch firefighter said: "The lady who was moving the car and had not driven an automatic before and went into the front of Boots. On lady was taken to hospital to be treated for minor wounds."
