A REVIEW on speed cameras will take place within the Royal Borough.
Plans to launch a consultation on how useful cameras are in preventing accidents were given the go ahead.
Officers at the council will now work closely with the Thames Valley Roads Partnership to review whether cameras should be retained, replaced or removed.
The move comes after a rise in accidents on the borough"s roads.
Figures show that in 2007 around 40 people were either killed or seriously injured in comparision the number rose to more than 60 the following year.
Lead member for Highways, Cllr Colin Rayner said during a Cabinet meeting last Thursday that it was key to get a detailed review of each existing camera site should take place before any decisions were made.
He added: 'The most important thing is to reduce the number of people seriously injured or killed on our roads.'
The review is expected to be complete later in the year.
