STUDENTS and staff at a first school in Dedworth are celebrating after receiving a glowing Ofsted report.
Dedworth Green First School has been graded as a ‘good school' overall after the inspection in November.
The Ofsted report states: "This is a good school. It has made good progress since the last inspection, which is due to the outstanding leadership of the headteacher and the excellent support of the governing body and senior staff. Behaviour is excellent and pupils show a high regard for their school and for each other."
The school, which was previously given an overall grade of ‘satisfactory' in 2005, was graded ‘good' for achievement and standards, ‘outstanding' for personal development and well-being, ‘good' for teaching and learning and ‘outstanding' for curriculum and other activities.
The inspector also reported: "Successful improvements since the last inspection, the outstanding leadership of the headteacher, an inventive and exciting curriculum, good teaching and learning, and rising standards and achievement, provide ample evidence that the school has a good capacity to improve further."
Headteacher Helen Fisher said: "We are really delighted and we feel pleased that our hard work has been recognised. We can now move on, listen to what was said and continue to improve."
