An ART gallery in Eton owned by Sam Morgan is spearheading a high-profile campaign to raise an ambitious £2m to honour the forgotten heroes of the Second World War with a lasting tribute.

The Eton Art Gallery is playing a pivotol role in the national fundraiser for the Bomber Command Memorial Fund and has received some big name backing in the form of ex Bee Gees frontman Robin Gibb.

Mr Gibb, the current president of the Heitage Society, is a passionate advocate of the Bomber Command monument and will be the headline guest at the gallery's official launch on November 21 where he will be switching on the Eton Christmas lights.

Gallery owner Sam Morgan has teamed up with photographer and former pop-star Jim Dooley and the Eton studio is now showcasing and selling fine art prints of the aircraft used during the war, such as the much fabled Lancaster Bomber and Spitfire, with half of all proceeds going towards the Bomber Command Memorial Fund.

Ms Morgan, said: "The Eton Art Gallery is the pinnacle centre for this creative branch of the fundraising, in just two months we have raised well over £3,000. We are now providing prints to 22 other galleries from all over the country, everything is coming out of Eton."

Jim Dooley, the photographer behind the Bomber Command prints, explained: "In a previous life I was a member of the band The Dooleys where I became involved in a number of charities. I was brought into contact with the Bomber Command Association and am now an associate member.

"A major bone of contention has been that there is no official recognition of the 55,500 men of Bomber Command who lost their lives. I decided to work with Sammy after a chance meeting in a gallery, photography is a hobby of mine and my pictures have been given up to the charity."

The proposed monument has been given the go-ahead by the City of Westminster and will feature a crew of seven life-sized aimen.
