THOUSANDS of people are expected to flock to Windsor tomorrow (Saturday) for the annual Midsummer fair.
There will be an abundance of fun for all the family to enjoy in the lead-up to the already-famous Royal Windsor Duck Race 2009.
Highlights at the fair - which will be held in Alexandra Gardens - will include more than 40 charity stalls selling a variety of goods, a fun fair and a Punch and Judy show.
Last year more than 4,000 people turned out for the day of fun and organisers are hopeful that the event will be just as popular this time around.
Windsor and Eton Rotary member, David Shaw, said: 'This is a real community event and we are hoping that even more people will turn up this year. We have so many local charities taking part and a lot of people come out to support them so it is a great opportunity to fundraise.'
The Irish Guards, currently based at Victoria Barracks in the town, will also be on hand and will be taking part in a wall-climbing competition, while the Windsor Boys" School choir will be singing their hearts out to the delight of crowds.
Other highlights on the day will include the second duck race as well as a race for businesses. Windsor Town manager, Paul Roach, is still keen to get as many local businesses as possible to sign up.
He said: 'We are offering businesses an opportunity to purchase special business ducks for the event which will raise money for local charities and the Windsor and Eton Christmas lights appeal.
We are aiming to sell at least 100 business ducks for the race. Each duck cost £25.
'We have got a great prize for the winning business this year.
"The winner will receive a boat for the day plus eleven guests on the river Thames and we will have a number of runners-up prizes.'
The fair will begin at noon and the duck race will take place at 4pm on Bath Island in Barry Avenue.
