WORK and education options were explored at a special Royal Borough event yesterday.
School pupils aged between 14 and 24 descended on the Town Hall, in St Ives Road, to visit exhibitions and take part in CV writing workshops, mock interviews and question and answer boards.
Large local employers including Legoland and Radian set up information stalls while East Berkshire College and the National Apprenticeship Service was also in attendance.
Cllr Christine Bateson, cabinet member for planning and partnerships, said: "We hear so much these days about students leaving university with huge debts - so naturally many school leavers will be considering their alternatives.
"The hopefully gave them as much information as possible about the many other ways in which they can bridge the gap between school and work - and more importantly provided a forum for them to ask specific questions of potential employers face to face.
"It is important for young people to be armed with as much information and advice as possible to help them make the decisions about their future which are right for them.
"University is not for everyone - but there are a great many other ways to get the training and skills needed to enter the workforce with confidence."
