A FAMILY had to flee their home on Friday night (October 23) after a fire started in their roof.
Firefighters from Maidenhead and Slough stations were called to the blaze that broke out in Blackamoor Lane, Maidenhead, at about midnight.
The two adults and child were already outside the end of terrace house when crews arrived with two fire engines and an aerial platform.
The road was closed while firefighters tackled the blaze which they prevented from spreading to the neighbouring house. The fire was under control by 1am.
Watch manager Nigel Platt said: "The roof was severely damaged but everybody got out safely which is the important thing."
The Red Cross victim support unit helped the family who have been left temporarily homeless.
The cause of the fire is being investigated but it is believed to have been the result of an electrical fault .
