A BAG full of forgotten treasure was found by divers at the bottom of the River Thames.
The discovery was made as staff from the Environment Agency (EA)prepared to carry out emergency repair works.
When divers entered the water at Boulters Lock to mend the gate they found a sunken bag in the depths of the river.
Brett Bodiam from the EA said: "Our divers went into the water to fix the gates and came up with buried treasure. They discovered the holdall immediately upstream from the head lock gates, on the the footpath side of the river. It was full of golfing trophies inscribed with Sunningdale Golf Club and the competitors initials."
Silver cups, trophies and a hip flask were all hauled from the riverbed and the hunt is now on to find the owner of the objects.
The items, which are believed to have been stolen in a burglary had been in the water for some time before the EA discovered them at the lock in Maidenhead on September 19.
Police have now appealed for anyone with information to come forward and call 08458 505505.
