MORE than 200 people were put through their paces to help raise vital cash for charity.

The Lions Club of Maidenhead held its annual FundRun in aid of the Maidenhead, Slough and district Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Teams of eight braved the cold at Braywick Athletic Club in Braywick Road, Maidenhead to run 200 metres each for 55 minutes.

Organiser Peter Skinner said: "Although the FundRun is not a race, it was obvious that all participants put a great deal of effort into their contribution ensuring that they have earned their sponsors money.

"The mayor, Cllr Jesse Grey, also came along and gave some energetic encouragement for his team."

This is the eighth year that the organisation has organised the event and Mr Skinner says it has become one of the club's biggest fundraisers.

He added: "This year we had more teams entered than ever before We are extremely pleased with how everything went and everybody really enjoyed themselves."

Every runner was awarded a special certificate for taking part and the club anticipates it will have raised around £8,000.

"The MS Society do such great work and our members were committed to raising as much money as they could," added Mr Skinner.

The Lions Club of Maidenhead is always keen to recruit new members and its next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 27, at Maidenhead Golf Club.
