AN INDEPENDENT investigation is set to be carried out, looking into how Thames Valley Police handled the report of a missing person.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has confirmed that it will conduct an independent investigation into Thames Valley Police’s response to its investigation of a missing person in Maidenhead.

A man from Maidenhead, in his 50s, who was reported missing to police on Friday, July 1, was found dead in Hampshire last Sunday. The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious and his next of kin has been informed.

Thames Valley Police made a referral to the IPCC last Monday as a mandatory requirement.
