A GROUP of colleagues have been training for a mountainous challenge in aid of two charities.

Eight members of staff from a Maidenhead based company will be taking on the Three Peaks Challenge next month to raise funds for Thames Hospice and Make-A-Wish UK.

The team, who work at Marc Daniels Specialist Recruitment in St Andrew's House in St Mary's Walk, will be tackling the the three highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland in June, and they will have just 24 hours to do it.

Daniel Ellis, the company's director is one of the staff members taking on the climb.

He said: “Our company believes in working together to achieve success in and out of work. When we read about the three peaks challenge, we knew it wasn’t a task to be taken on without careful consideration.

"We’ve had to train extensively and ensure we are fully prepared, not only for all the walking, but for the logistics of transporting ourselves between the mountains, navigating ourselves in the dark and keeping ourselves fed, watered and safe. We are determined to complete this challenge for our charities!”

Taking on the challenge on June 17, the group of eight will ascend and descend Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon meaning a total ascent of nearly 10,000 feet and a total walking distance of more than 22 miles.

The team is hoping to raise £2,500 for each charity. The company chose to support Make-A-Wish to help them make dreams come true for children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions and Windsor based Thames Hospice because of the work they do providing expert care to adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families and carers throughout East Berkshire and South Bucks.

Amy Danbrowsky, marketing and PR officer at Thames Hospice has shown her gratitude to the company's support. She said:“This is such a gruelling challenge and we can’t thank you enough for taking it on in aid of the patients and their loved ones we care for.

"The very best of luck from everybody here - we really couldn’t do what we do without people like you.”
