Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to an attempted armed robbery in Maidenhead.

On Wednesday around 9.56pm four men entered Budgens Store, Highway Avenue, Maidenhead just before closing time. They had their faces covered and were wearing dark clothing.

One of them was carrying a crowbar. They attempted to steal cigarettes from a cabinet but were unsuccessful as the cabinet was empty. The men then left the store.

Det Con Sarah Allen, Force CID, Maidenhead Police Station said: “While staff were still in the store during the incident, fortunately nobody was harmed.

“We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident or witnessed any vehicle near the offence location at the time or who may have spotted a car speeding away from the scene.”
