BUDDING photographers have a chance to deliver the perfect festive snap as the local hospice searches for their official 2010 Christmas card.
Thames Hospicecare in partnership with The Observer has this week launched the 2010 Christmas Card Competition.
The Hospice is looking for the perfect seasonal, wintery scene to become next year’s Christmas card.
Director of retail at the Hospice and one of last year’s judges, Ros White, said: “We had an amazing response to the competition last year. The quality of the photography and the variety of images made the decision making very difficult.
“We live and work in such a beautiful part of the country that so many opportunities present themselves for some wonderful photos.”
Entrants have a choice of stunning scenes to choose from, such as Windsor Great Park, the River Thames, Windsor Castle and festive activities including carol singing and ice skating.
Last year Michelle Gregory’s winning entry ‘Carols On The Hill’ featured the Band of the Life Guards and is now on sale in all of the Hospice’s 16 shops.
Miss Gregory, from Windsor, said: “I was keeping my fingers crossed that my photo might make it on to the shortlist, but when I heard that I had won I was absolutely thrilled.
“I’m really proud that my photo is actually helping the Hospice raise the funds it needs so desperately. The staff at the Hospice do a wonderful job for the patients and families in their care, and are so deserving of our support.”
Both black and white photographs will be accepted and a maximum of three photos may be submitted, but they must be your own.
The competition will run until Friday, March 5, 2010 and judging will take place in March 2010.
A selection of entries will be featured online and in the paper during the course of the competition.
