A family have accused staff at Wexham Park Hospital of failing to provide adequate care for an elderly member of their family.

88-year-old Winnifred Price has been admitted to the hospital six times since her first admittance since her first admittance on the 16th November last year. In that time, she has been admitted to six different wards including wards specialising in both diabetic and dementia care, despite not having either of these conditions.

In one instance, Mrs Price’s family claim she was taken into A&E at 2am. She was left on a trolley for six hours and was not offered a pillow to provide her comfort.

Winnifred said: “It creates great stress every time I have to come back into hospital.

“I don’t like the way doctors have told me one thing in front of my family and when my daughter and granddaughter have questions, the nurses said I didn’t know what I was talking about.

“If I had been alone when the doctors told me, my family may have believed I was going mad.”

Tracey Dixon, Winnifred’s granddaughter, also claims that she found Winnifred unresponsive in her hospital bed, only to find her concerns dismissed by staff.

“I have gone there and found my nan unresponsive. I have told the staff of her condition and asked them to check her. The doctors said they did not need to check her as she was checked two hours ago.

“In the end I managed to get an on-call doctor to come and check her and next thing we know she is being rushed down for CT scans. She went on to have a mini-stroke that night.”

A representative from the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are very sorry to heat Mrs Price’s family are unhappy with the care provided. We are speaking with her nominated contact about her admissions and will respond directly to any concerns raised.

“We always recommend raising concerns with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service team who can provide support to resolve any issues.”
