Prison sentences have been handed out to two men who manhandled a victim and threatened him with a knife in Salt Hill Park, Slough.

Mohammed Abdalla, 25, of Hatton Avenue, Slough and Jamal Abdi, 19, of Court Crescent, Slough were both sentenced to four years imprisonment following a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Monday, July 9.

It followed a four day trial.

Abdalla was found guilty by a unanimous jury on one count of attempted robbery.

Abdi was found guilty unanimously on one count of attempted robbery and one of making threats with a bladed article.

A third man Jamal Dirir, 23, of Hatton Avenue, Slough was acquitted by the judge presiding over the case.

The attack happened at around 8.20am on 5 January 2018, when a man in his forties walking through Salt Hill Park was approached by three men. Abdi pulled out a knife from his trousers and threatened the victim, demanding his belongings The victim was then manhandled by Abdalla and Abdi and his pockets were rifled through.

They were distracted by another man walking nearby and left empty handed, enabling the victim to escape uninjured and call the police.

The offenders did not take any of victims belongings during the incident.

Addalla, Abdi and Dirir were charged on January 6.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Jane Pearman, of the Investigation Hub based at Slough police station, said: "This investigation was the culmination of a combination of departments within the Slough LPA working closely together.

"Knife crimes have traumatising and serious long terms effects on victims, whether they are injured or not.

"Thames Valley police will always investigation thoroughly and bring offenders before the courts for justice."
