A £4,000 cash boost has guaranteed a future for the SportsAble Junior sessions that bring sport and games to young people with disabilities.

SportsAble Junior has received £4,000 from Berkshire Community Foundation, in support of its new Sunday afternoon sport sessions.

The weekly sessions have been created especially for children under the age of 18 with physical or sensory disabilities, to enjoy all the benefits of physical activity with their friends and family at SportsAble's Braywick Road headquarters.

Speaking about the donation, SportsAble’s Sport Development Manager, Niall McCaffrey says, “This generous grant from the Berkshire Community Foundation will go towards securing the longevity of our sessions and help us reach more children and their families.

“SportsAble believes everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy sport and fun activities, especially the joy of playing against parents, siblings and friends. We have had families playing wheelchair basketball against each other and parents playing Boccia with their children. It’s encouraging to see everyone enjoying themselves.”

The SportsAble Junior sessions run every Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and include a mixture of structured sports coaching and unstructured fun and games. SportsAble is offering a free taster session for anyone who is interested in attending.
